At Bravely Borrows, there are lots of expenses that will simply be handwaved. None of us want to deal with tracking every expense because that is just a headache waiting to happen and the point of the game is to have a chill time. So we will simply be chill. There are things that do need to be purchased though, and this page will break down those expenses by shop/service and serve as a shopping page.
HANDWAVED PURCHASES
Like stated, a lot of things can be handwaved! We just ask you be reasonable with your offscreen purchases. While it’s good to be prepared for encounters, what’s the fun of being totally prepared every time? Here’s some examples of what you don’t really need to worry about.
Potions and other healing items.
Job Class Items: pastry ingredients, cat treats, merchant items
Food and basic necessities.
Basic weaponry.
Magic rings for journals if a character needs them.
Lodging: guild and inn fees are considered taken care of via AC check in. Characters may handwave the purchase of a home, but please be reasonable– it should take at least a few months to gather those funds.
Essentially, if it is not something covered in the next few sections, its probably fine. Just ask if you are not sure!
SIGILS AND CHARMS
Journaling heaven. Should you need custom stamps for your journals or a whole new journal entirely, this is your stop. Each stamp is handmade to order, and magic journals are difficult business to set up properly.
Individual Stamps: A stamp bearing one character’s personal symbol. [100g]
Party Stamps: A set of stamps calibrated for a party of adventurers. The party can pick their own design. [400g, price can be split.]
Magic Ring: An experimental ring for reading aloud and recording messages into journals via voice. While these rings are free to those that need them, characters can purchase them if they so desire. The cost goes towards the research! [500g]
Magic Journal: Making a new magic journal is essentially creating a whole new identity. This is a very delicate and difficult matter, you see. It’s an extremely luxurious option. Very expensive. Comes with a whole new identification symbol of the buyer’s choice. [3000g]
PLAYER BUSINESSES
While purchasing a home can be handwaved, purchasing space for a business costs some sweet, sweet coin. You need a business license after all! Guildenhirst is not here to house scams, thank you. (Note: You can attempt to house scams, if that’s what you want.)
Player Run Business: Pick which part of the city you would like your business to run. A location blurb will be added to the city page! We’ll need to know what kind of space you are thinking of and the business being conducted there. Business locations are currently limited to Guildenhirst, but keep an eye out for future availability and franchising opportunities. [1000g]
REGAINS and SPECIAL ORDERS [Currently Unavailable]
Regains are currently unavailable at the start of the game. Never fear, they will be available soon. You can still get a look at what you’ll be able to spend your gold on in the meanwhile. New items will be added over time!
Small Item From Home: [100g]
It’s a small, non-magical item from home! Books, seeds, toys, small weapons, etc.
Small Magical Item From Home: [300g]
A small item that is Magical or Living. Small pokemon, tiny familiars, magical pendants, small enchanted weapons, enchanted books, etc.
Medium Item From Home: [300g]
A larger item! Bicycles, furniture, regular sized swords and the like, etc.
Medium Magical Item From Home: [500g]
A medium item that is Magical or Living. Mid-size pokemon, large domestic pets, regular-sword sized enchanted weapons, magic armor, etc.
Large Item From Home: [500g]
Personal sized vehicles, really big weapons, etc.
Large Magical Item From Home: [700g]
A large item that is Magical or Living. Large pokemon no bigger than Snorlax [can be scaled down], Chocobos, large mythical creatures [can be scaled down], horses, etc.
Magic Tent: [5000g]
They’re very expensive.
Glamor Asterisk: [3000g]
A special asterisk that allows you to don a one-of-a-kind outfit that’s just for you! This outfit overrides job outfits, but does not prevent the use of job classes. Be free of your silly Ranger hoodie.
Glamor Asterisk [Freelance]: [2000g]
Similar to the Glamor Asterisk, but it allows the use of the Freelancer outfit instead of the equipped job class.
Pictobox: [700g]
A very special item! It takes and prints pictures on special paper that is very lightweight. There’s a special surprise that makes it perfect for a magic journal– you can peel the back of the picture off to make a sticker! Wow!!
